Audible - Need Suggestions

Woohoo, I made it to spring break (barely)! I almost didn't pass my math class, but my final saved me, surprisingly. Theatre class was easy, though. If you've been wondering where I've been, which I'm sure you haven't, I've been trying to not fail out of school.

But now that I'm on break I have a little bit of time to post before the shit storm starts again!

We had to read a few plays for my theatre class, and being the cheapo that I am, I did not buy the textbook. I either found the plays in the library, found them online, or listened to the audiobook. That's how I finally downloaded Audible. I've heard so many rave reviews about Audible and I finally had to break down and download it. I got to download the play I needed for free with the free trial, so yay!

We had to read Buried Child by Sam Shepard, and in my case I listened instead of read.

I'm not sure how I feel about Audible yet because I just used it for this one play. And I'm also not sure if it was the play's fault or if I just don't like audiobooks. If you've never read it before, just know it's an absolutely absurd play. I found myself zoning out and kind of losing what was going on, but that may be the fault of the play.

So, I have 1 more credit to use and I don't want to give up on Audible yet. I'd like your audiobook suggestions. What are some of your Audible recommendations? 

Custom Stationery Decision (Said In Layers)

I made a decision. Decision made. Last month I was having a terrible time deciding what personalized stationery I was going to get, and I even did an entire post on it.

I felt like I was buying a house or searching for the perfect wedding dress. I did so much searching and I was just not ready to settle for something that I just felt "meh" about, even though so many stationery sets I included in that post were beautiful! They were either too small for my liking, too pricey, were only one sided (I like folded notecards), or some other factor.

But just like in the movies when the bride to be is searching for her wedding dress, I found "the" stationery. And here it is...

I had about 10 tabs of different stationery options open and immediately closed them all once I read the details and decided that these cards fit all my criteria. They were made by Said In Layers on Etsy. I just want to frame one and put it on my wall!

Yesssss. I was starting to get discouraged on my hunt, because a lot of the designs I liked were only available on flat cards and I prefer folded cards. So you can imagine how excited I got when I found out these were folded notecards.

This is one of my favorite parts. When you open the envelope, my name is the first thing you see. So obviously whoever is opening the letter is going to get super excited when they see that! Haha, kidding (kind of).

It was within my price range, but custom stationery from anyone still is not cheap. So if you get a letter from me on one of these cards, you're special! Congratulations!

So if you're on the hunt for some custom stationery, I highly recommend Said In Layers (her name is Abbey if you want to go ask her any questions, she is super sweet). She also has regular stationery if you don't want to go the custom route, and she sells art prints as well.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Elizabeth Taylor

Sorry if this post is kind of all over the place, my mind is so scattered lately and I don't know why! I'm waiting for my new planner to come in the mail, so maybe I just feel disorganized knowing I don't have one? I'm not sure.

Anyway, I finally got my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in the mail! Oh my gosh you guys it's heavenly.

I'm such a stranger to liquid liner though! I used one when I was about 13. It wasn't mine, so I think it was my sister's. I found it in my bathroom and I was curious and I think you can guess it was just a hot, hot mess.

The next one was Covergirl's Intensify Me! liquid liner. I loved it! Now I've graduated to Kat Von D.

I'm still trying to perfect the art of the cat eye, but it's a lot easier with the Kat Von D. The Covergirl Intensify Me! didn't give me a line as thin as I would have liked but it was badass at giving thick lines, lemme tell ya!

I'm striving for that Elizabeth Taylor look.

When I wear this liner I feel like I should dress a certain way. I can't decide if I want to dress super classy, or more badass though. 

I feel like that is pretty fair middle ground, don't you think? Classy with a spiked statement necklace and the spiked earrings? Yaaaaas. 

I dressed a little more edgy for class today though, and I was loving it. Complete with my winged liner of course! 

Seriously though, the Kat Von D Tattoo liner has really amazing staying power. I wear it over primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion or the Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer) and it lasts all day, but I don't have an oily eyelid problem so I can't speak for the people that have that issue. It just glides onto your eyelids effortlessly with no tugging whatsoever. 

I'm in love, and that's all.

TwoKraftyChicks and Target Giveaway!

Giveaway time! Finally! So as I've mentioned before, TwoKraftyChicks on Etsy sent some adorable planner items over to use in a giveaway back in May. At the time, I was moving and the items got lost in the move and I finally found them! Yay!

The bad news is, some of the items got a little damaged. One of the paperclip bookmarks broke, and a couple of the stickers are a little damaged as well. Only a couple are damaged, and the ones that are a still very useable, but I felt I should warn you.

I felt horrible, I went to Target and bought some more goodies to go along with the things TwoKraftyChicks sent over!

And apologies for the horrible photos. It was a particularly gloomy day but I had to get the photos taken, and I could't take them outside like I normally would.

I was contemplating getting a planner for the giveaway (because that would make sense) but I know some people are picky about what type of planner they like (I know I am). Even though it may be handy for some people to have more than one planner, many people don't need two, so I figured everyone could get use out of a simple notepad! I mean we all write things down, right? And this is one freaking cute notepad. And once you've gotten use out of the notepad included inside this padfolio, you can always go to Office Depot or Target, buy another, and continue on.

Planner Wishlist - Stickers Part I

I've noticed that I do a lot of wish lists, and I promise I'm not as greedy as I seem. I could go on for pages and pages. My goal is to be more functional than decorative. I've watched "plan with me" videos on Youtube and I've seen people make absolutely adorable planner layouts, but I don't think they would work for me in real life. A) I could never afford all of the supplies used and B) it seems a little hard to read for my taste. If my layouts look decent I might post pictures. 

But really, are these stickers not the cutest? I ALWAYS need medicine refill reminders and reminders for when I need to get more contacts. And the "shark week" stickers are just too cute not to want. I have to figure out a cute way to differentiate between which stickers I want to mean Keurig filter changing day and which means Keurig descale day. I have some washi tape that looks like fish scales, so that might come into play at some point. 

Sorry if this invades my blog a bit, I can tell I might become a little obsessed. Please share your favorite planner supplies stores or your own Etsy store if you have one! 

Are you a physical planner girl too? If so, are you a plain planner or a decorative planner? 

Sensitive Skin Woes

Since I'm attempting to transform into a functional domestic diva, I have to make sure I see to both my needs and John's. John is just a damn mess. He can't eat wheat or milk, and has super sensitive skin. He is itchy all the time.

He switched from whatever body wash he was using to fragrance free soaps, and we switched laundry detergents as well. Right now he is using Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash, which seems to be a lot better for his skin that Old Spice or whatever he was using before, but he is still very itchy.

We've also switched to Tide Free & Gentle Detergent for our laundry and that has made a noticeable improvement as well. These were suggestions given to us by his grandparents because his grandmother has a similar sensitive skin issue, so I guess it runs in the family. 

Diet probably has a bit to do with it as well. He tries to stay away from wheat and cow's milk as much as possible (it really is in everything, it's kind of insane). 

I just feel like there are better alternatives to Tide and Dove that might still be better for his skin. No offense to Tide and Dove, I adore you two. I am using Dove soap for myself as well right now. And don't get me wrong, they have made noticeable improvements to his skin in contrast to the other non-sensitive skin products he was previously using.  

He can't use anything with dyes or fragrance, so if you have similar sensitive skin issues, please let me know what you use! If he can find some detergent and body wash that will work for his skin he will be willing to dish out the money I'm sure. 

That being said, what are your new years plans?! I hope you all have a good transition into 2016!  

One more thing, if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook then you might've seen that I found my things from Two Krafty Chicks that got ignored/lost when I was moving my things to a different house back in May! A few of the stickers got a little damaged unfortunately, but to make up for my awfulness I went to Target yesterday and bought some things to add to the giveaway! Stay tuned!
