Review: Lush Pumice Power

I may have mentioned it before, but I'll mention it again: I hate feet, including mine. With that hatred comes neglect. My feet have some unfortunate dry spots and my toenails go unpolished 99% of the time, but I'm working on changing that, starting with this past weekend's purchase.

I took a trip to Lush and bought their Pumice Power, with the main ingredients being pumice powder, coconut oil, and organic sweet orange oil. It smells exactly like fresh oranges, and it is heavenly.

It's teardrop shaped, or maybe it looks like a giant orange seed. Either way, it fits into the palm of your hand. In the shower, I exfoliated my feet with firm, circular motions with this little guy. It was torture because my feet are so ticklish.

If you've ever had your feet stained orange from wearing Rainbow brand flip flops in the rain, that's what my feet looked like during this process. No fear though, it washed right off when I rinsed.

I had to use a bit more force on the drier parts of my feet (the sides of my heels), but when I got out of the shower I was pleasantly surprised. My feet were super soft! I even let John touch my feet, which NEVER happens. I wanted to let him feel how soft they were, and he agreed! The sides of my heels still felt like they needed a tiny bit more work, but there was still noticeable improvement. Like if I had endured the tickling for a few more seconds, I would have been fine. Besides that, my feet were so soft.

I've used it on my elbows and other spots that get dry too, so you obviously don't have to reserve it just for your feetsies. If you want to use it as a full body scrub, I wouldn't recommend using it every day because it is quite abrasive.

Would I repurchase?: Yes! The smell is wonderful and it leaves my feet feeling like a baby's bottom (I hate that phrase, but it's pretty accurate). It requires a little extra elbow grease if you have some extra troubled spots, though.

What products do you use to pamper your feet?

Shop! Inspired by Daenerys Targaryen

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you drank water over the weekend.

I'm so behind catching up on Game of Thrones, and every time Daenerys Targaryen comes on the screen I swoon at her outfits. She goes from looking like a desert badass to a pretty, flowy queen (or Khaleesi).

Daenerys Targaryen

She kind of has the Greek Goddess look about her, but she also wears leather and asymmetrical skirts and tops. Maxi dresses appear a lot in the show - mostly blue, grey, white, and other dusty colors. The only time you ever really see her shoes is when she is wearing boots, but you can't go wrong with sandals.

Daenerys Targaryen Target

Woohoo Target! They have temporary tattoos that would work so well if you're planning on going out for a night with a Daenerys inspired outfit. And anything with a dragon on it will be appropriate. We are being inspired by the Mother of Dragons, here!

Daenerys Targaryen H&M

H&M had an awesome selection of maxi dresses. I love the asymmetrical grey dress that they have. She wears a lot of asymmetrical skirts in the beginning. Those earrings look a little bit like dragon eggs or dragon scales, too!

Daenerys Targaryen Kohls

And finally, Kohl's! That skirt is perfect for this look. Asymmetrical and dark grey! All we need now is a brown crop top, some black fingerless gloves and boots and we'll be in business.

Are you as addicted to Game of Thrones as I am? What do you think of the Khaleesi herself? Do her outfits inspire you? Let me know what you think! I hope you all enjoy the rest of your Monday!

Inspired by: Chinese Blue & White Porcelain

My mom LOVES blue and white plates and decorative figurines, and I used to be obsessed with anything oriental (still kind of am actually). I saw some blue and white kitchenware in a shop on King Street yesterday and got a little nostalgic, so I decided to base a blog post on it!

I don't know why so few people have heard of DENY Designs. They have some of the cutest prints and color schemes for any room decor you could possibly want. This shower curtain is in the print "Blueberry", and they have pillows, blankets, duvet covers, wall prints, and a whole lot of other things in this print.

The Chinese designs are so ornate and beautiful, but the blue and white colors are pretty simple. I think they balance each other out very well. Blue and white porcelain became popular in China in the 14th century, though it was probably around before that. From what I understand, the blue and white porcelain was fairly expensive because it was made with cobalt, which was more expensive than gold at the time.

Oriental 1

This is just a simple little outfit for spring. The blue and white shawl is light and breezy, and has an oriental look to it. I think gold accessories would look nice with this because the porcelain plates and such often had a gold trim on them. Stacked bracelets have been growing on me lately as well. Unfortunately for me, it's hard to find bracelets that fit my tiny wrists.

Gingham

Gingham for spring! This would be adorable for going to a garden party or any outside event for spring really. I went with rose gold instead of gold for this one, no real reason really other than I like rose gold. And stacked bracelets/watch yet again. Just pop on some wedges, grab a cute tote bag and your sunglasses, and you're ready to go!

If anyone can do their nails like this, PLEASE send me a picture. That is ridiculously beautiful. If they are nail stickers, I really need to find them.

This is a little more doable. I've never tried the OPI Matte Top Coat, or any matte top coat for that matter, but I do like the look.

Just saying

Just saying, again.

So, what do you think? Would you decorate your house in some blue and white porcelain? Do you like the oriental influences? Also, let me know what your favorite matte top coat is for nail polish. Seriously, if anyone tries those nails, send me a pic.

How To Be Happy

After having a tough day, I realized I've had many tough days lately. Some for ongoing reasons and some just because something crappy happened that day. I just wanted to do a post reminding you all to still be happy and do something that makes yourself happy at least once a day. If you're reading this, you probably enjoy reading blogs. You're off to a good start!

1. Find something you enjoy doing, even if you're not good at it. I really enjoy drawing, even though I'm not very good at it. It still calms me down and gives me something to focus on for a while that doesn't involve whatever is troubling me. You don't have to showcase your drawings if you don't want to, just do it if it makes you happy. Play around with colors and draw some happy images. Or even if they aren't happy, whatever comes to mind. Maybe you need to let out some anger by drawing some hardcore skulls or something. Whatever you need to do, do it.

2. Listen to music. I feel like this is a given in any post on how to be happy, but I figured I'd include it anyway. Fleetwood Mac always seems to make me feel better. Find an artist(s) that you can listen to forever and not get tired of, and start listening!

3. Singing the music will put you in an even better mood. Make sure you have a playlist on iTunes or Spotify or whatever you use just for happy music. Search for more happy songs and add them to the happy playlist as you listen to it.

4. Take a shower, put on some music, sing your heart out, and get some aromatherapy going. Hot showers are relaxing, and music just adds to the bliss of it. I was browsing the Fortune Cookie Soap website last night and noticed they had a product I'd never heard called "Steam Me Up Scotty!". They come in a set of 3, and you put one cube on the floor of the shower and let the steam take care of the rest. If you aren't in the mood to belt out some songs, take a hot bath and light some candles.

5. Read a book. It can take you to a place that's far from what's troubling you. Just be careful not to pick a sad book!

6. Stop checking Facebook so often! Seriously, delete the app on your phone if you have to. You're dealing with troubles in your life, and people on Facebook tend to only post the highlights of their life. This makes you feel insecure because they make life seem so lovely while you are suffering. Especially stay away if you're insecure about your appearance. People sometimes spend so much time trying different angles and editing to get the perfect picture. You're just as beautiful as they are!

7. Be nicer to people. Even if they are treating you like crap, maybe they are having a bad day, too. Don't immediately reciprocate by being rude back. If people see how nice you are to them, they will be nice to you too. Unless they're just a bitch, then they probably won't be nice back. But you still have an opportunity to make yourself feel better by not stooping to their level!

8. Talk to people who are troubling you in your life. Maybe you disagree with the way your significant other is treating you lately, or how your best friend is ignoring you, or some other relationship problem in your life. It might be hard, but you won't regret it in the long run. If they are a toxic person in your life, you'll find out quickly if they don't listen to you. If they want you to be happy, they'll listen to your concerns and talk to you about possible solutions.

You don't have to be happy all the time, but it's important to be happy overall with your life. Taking a few minutes out of the day for yourself and forget about your problems is a great thing to do. Retail therapy is always an option ;) Just be careful with that, too. Don't wanna run up a credit card bill!

What do you to to keep yourself happy and sane, despite the crazy things in life? What are your favorite songs to listen to when you need cheering up?
