6 word memoirs

We did a lot of these in enlgish class last year, and I thought they were pretty cool. Yup, 6 word memoirs. If you've never heard of them or don't know what they are, it was basically started by SMITH Magazine, and it's kind of a platform for a story, summed up in 6 words. If that makes any sense? Here are some that kind of sum up my life, or start a story:

"Wow, that was a close one"
"My secrets are not secrets anymore"
"Totally innocent, till she met him"
"'What were you thinking?' I wasn't"
"Credit card bill never goes away"
"Shit, what do I do now?"
"They think I can't hear them"
"We got along from the beginning"

And just because I like having pictures in my posts:

image from we heart it

And the message on the image just happens to be six words :)

So, use this post as a tag kinda. Either comment or do your own blog post of your six word memoir or memoirs :) I love reading other people's.

Blog Award and Update

Thanks to Aubree at Inspirational Me, I just received my first ever blog award. Woohoo! Thanks Aubree :) Here is the award:

The rules are:
1. Describe where you think you'll be in 10 years
2. Pass the fun along to 10 other bloggers

Oh goodness I really don't know where I think I'll be in 10 years. (By the way, I realize this is not going to all happen, just me in my little fantasy world). Let's see I will be 26. Hopefully living in New York somewhere. I will be working somewhere in either the fashion or beauty industry. I will have a Westie and a Scottie dog, and a lovely boyfriend/husband (preferably a soccer player from Spain or France) haha. So yeah that's basically my little fantasy for 10 years, I could have gone all out and made it totally non-realistic though.

Ok, now that that's done, here are my 10 bloggers, in no order:
1. Gets from Wasted Seventeen
2. Sarah from Shades of Sarah
3. Allison from La Dolce Vita
4. Carrie from Couture Carrie
5. Lauren from La Petite Fashionista
6. Lindsay from La Belle Vie
7. Audrey from Audrey Allure
8. Amy from Penniless Style
9. Josie from With a Wink and a Smile
10. Lannie from Charming Frivolity

gah, I took forever to pick 10. It was so hard! I do really love all of you bloggers though!

I'm going to be back home tomorrow, where I will hopefully have some packages waiting for me, and I also went shopping today, so I'm thinking about just doing a haul video for it all just to show you all what to expect within the next few weeks, or I might just do a post. Never done a video before so I guess we'll see! Also, my dad said yes but my mom said no to the belly button ring :( I'm sure I'll be able to change her mind though.

I finally found a sushi rolling mat! My sister found one in Philadelphia and is sending it to me, so I will be sure to try out some sushi recipes and update you all :)

Oh, and in relation to my perfume post, I found the perfect quote that I should have put on it! "No elegance is possible without perfume. It is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory of fashion that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure." -Coco Chanel. Lovely, right?

Guess that's about it, thanks again for the award, Aubree :) how has everybody's weekend been so far? Update me.

Perfumania!

I am currently on the search for new perfumes. I currently have two, the Couture Couture rollerball by Juicy Couture, and Sexy Little Things by Victoria's Secret.

images via polyvore

I love trying out new scents, because I easily get bored with mine. Although I do love the ones I have now, I want to expand my collection. I really like things that smell kinda fruity, floral, and kinda girly scents. Here are some I really want to try out, but most of them I haven't smelled yet, so let me know if you use them or not.

1. Viva La Juicy

2. Miss Dior Cherie

3. Can Can by Paris Hilton

4. DKNY Be Delicious

5. Wrapped With Love by Hilary Duff

6. Ralph Lauren Wild

What is your favorite perfume? Do you have any more to add to my list? Let me know your thoughts!

Shampoo review! Sheer Blonde highlight activating

I'm still on a quest to find my perfect shampoo and conditioner, so I'm always trying out new products. So far I've stuck with drug store shampoos, just because I know I can get them whenever and wherever I need them (and they are usually cheap, too).

Usually before I try out a new shampoo or conditioner, I read reviews on it to make sure it works for other people with my hair type. I decided to try out John Frieda's Sheer Blonde highlight activating shampoo and conditioner. I went online, read the reviews, and it seemed to get awesome reviews from pretty much everybody that reviewed it, so I decided to try it out myself.

images from folica.com.

On Folica.com, the description says
"Take highlights from dull to dazzling with the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Enhancing Shampoo with Highlight Optimizers.

Activate a range of tones for a full spectrum of highlights with the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Enhancing Shampoo with Highlight Optimizers"

So I was like, "Ok, cool. This will be good for summer, maybe it will make my blondeness stand out more or something. And it's John Frieda! I do love those products"...get to Target 10 minutes later... "Ooh it even smells good too! Seems like a winner so far!"

Wrong.

I used the shampoo and conditioner when I washed my hair that night, and I was still excited because it smelled really good! I got out, towel dried my hair, went to bed with it still kinda wet and woke up the next morning as usual. But when I woke up, my hair felt heavy, greasy, and nasty. I just thought maybe I didn't rinse out the conditioner very well, so I gave it another try the next night. Woke up, same thing. I used the shampoo but not the conditioner the night after that and it helped a little bit, but it still felt gross.

I don't even know if it succedded in the "highlight activating" part because I was too grossed out by the way my hair looked to even notice.

Maybe my hair is just weird though, because it really does seem to work for almost everybody else.

I havn't lost faith in John Frieda though, because I have used the Root Awakening shampoo and I did like that, plus the other styling products by John Frieda that I love.

Have you used this product? Did you have the same problem or did it work well for you? What is your favorite drugstore shampoo and conditioner?

Photo Editing

I've had a lot of time on my hands while I'm up at my dad's house, and I was bored so I decided to play around and edit random photos from the internet on Paint Shop Pro. It's nothing too extraordinary, just basically messing around with color and lighting. Sooo I thought I'd share the results of my boredom with you all :) Original picture on the left, edited version on the right (or original on top and edited on bottom for the Hilary Duff photo).

Random, right? All pictures were found on google images. I am so obsessed with the Emma Roberts posing like Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. It's so cute!

Anyway I was going to do a recipe post of the cookies I made my dad for father's day, but I took pictures on my blackberry and left my blackberry cord at home, sooo I can't upload them just yet. But that post is coming!

Inspired by: Iced Passion Tea Lemonade

Yep, time for another inspired by post! This time I am being inspired by iced passion tea lemonade from Starbucks. Weird right? But it is such a cute color, especially for summer, and it's such a sweet, refreshing drink (and I'm craving one so bad now, but there is absolutely NO Starbucks in this town my dad lives in. Insanity!). I think this is the first time I've had outfits inspired by an object instead of a movie or something. Here goes nothing :)

Photo taken and (badly) edited by me haha :)

Outfit #1 Daytime

Product info: tank- Old navy, shorts- Almost Famous, sandals- Tory Burch, bag- Forever21, scarf- Debut, sunglasses- Ray Bans, nail polish- OPI.
The key to pulling off such a bold color is starting with a simple outfit, and then adding color with accessories. For this outfit I started with a simple white tank top and denim shorts, and added a dark pink (I'm not sure what color this is...I guess it's kind of a berry pink? If you know comment haha) and a similar color nail polish. Throw in a cute bag, sandals, and black Ray-bans to protect those eyes of yours and you're good to go :) Another idea would be to skip the scarf and layer a berry pink tank top underneath the white tank top (sorry, I don't have enough time to make another outfit, but you get the idea).

Outfit #2 Night time

Product info: dress- Opening Ceremony, heels- Cuteseygirl, clutch- Michael Kors, ring- Fashion addict, earrings- Tiffany's.
Again for night time, keep it simple with a little black dress, then accessorize. For the focal point of my outfit, I chose cute pumps and a big ring. Keep the rest of the outfit classy with simple earrings and a simple black clutch.

Well, that's about it for this post. Remember, keep it simple! Let me know what you think! Have you ever had passion tea lemonade?

Computer fixed, first official day of summer!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while guys! My computer had a virus and I couldn't use it for a few days. I think it's fixed now, so I'm going to catch up on posting and reading all of your fabulous blogs :) I am visiting my dad for a week, and there isn't much to do up here so I should be able to post regularly again. He said I could get my belly button pierced, but I'm kinda indecisive about it. First of all, I'm a chicken when it comes to stuff like that. And second, some people think it's trashy. Opinions?

In celebration of the first official day of summer, here are a few summery photos to get you in the summer mood! (Though I've been in my summer mood for a while now!)

What hair product can't you live without?

Have you found a hair product you can't live without? Shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, etc.?
Mine is John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme.

It truly is my secret weapon. If I'm having a bad hair day, this instantly makes it looks at least 5 times better. It keeps my hair shiny and de-frizzes it very nicely. I've only ever used it on my straight hair and wavy-ish hair, so curly girls proceed with caution. And it's only about $6!! Yay!

What's your hair's secret weapon?

50% off e.l.f studio line

Ahhhh just as I listed elf cosmetics on my lust list, I find out I'm going to be working more days from now on, which means more money. Also, use code EGSTUD on the e.l.f. website and get 50% off their studio line! It was meant to be, I'm telling ya. Minimum purchase of $20, and offer ends June 21, 2010. Happy shopping :)
Another post coming later tonight (assuming my internet doesn't die on me)

P.S. Thinking of doing a haul video when I get my prodcuts? Not sure yet. And reviews, too. Not sure if they will be in video form or post form, but there will be reviews.

Lust List

I've worked a few extra days, so I figured I would make myself a lust list and pick a few things to buy with my extra cash. (Sorry if this is a so-so post, I have to get it up before my internet dies again. Eeeek!)

1. NARS the multiple in orgasm

I've heard such great things about this product. I need a good cheek color, and this seems perfect. It can also be used for lips or anything else, really.

2. Good books

Thanks to Couture Carrie, another book has been added to my must read list! She did a great review on Summer at Tiffany, and if you haven't heard of it you should definitely go read her review. As for Shoe Addicts Anonymous and Confessions of a Beauty Addict, I stumbled upon them while browsing the book store today, and now are also on my must read list. Anybody read any of these?

3. E.L.F cosmetics

Images via polyvore
I love elf makeup. It's super super cheap but they are actually great products. Need I say more?

4. Longchamp Le Pliage bag

Image via polyvore
Color and size undecided. But I love these bags-they hold everything and serve as a cute, everyday bag.

5. TOMS!!

Images via Toms.com
I tried on a pair of Toms a few days ago; everybody was right--they are SO comfortable! I really like the black cordones for work and school, and the wedges just for fun :) The best part? Buy a pair of Toms and a new pair of shoes is given to somebody in need!

Soo that's my lust list for the moment. Let me know if you've read any of those books, and what you think of them. What's on your lust list right now?

5 more ways to go green!

Since I, and many other bloggers, made our blogs carbon neutral, it has inspired me to look for more ways to help the environment. I did some research in magazines, online, and from friends to see what are some fun, easy ways to get it done. Here is what I found!

1. Don't use google- If you want to look something up online, try either goodsearch.com or blackle.com. Good Search donates 50% of money made from advertising to ANY charity of your choice every time you use it! And Blackle uses black backgrounds instead of white, so your computer is using less energy!

2. Clean out your car- You know you've been meaning to do this for a long time but haven't gotten around to it yet--well at least I have--but now you have a good reason too (other than making your car look nice inside)! If you have a bunch of unneccessary stuff in your car and trunk, it is extra weight which makes your car burn gas faster (saves money and helps the environment).

3. Join Carbonrally- You can accept challanges to help you try to reduce your carbon footprint. You can join a team or make a team yourself. I am currently a part of Seventeen Magazine's team, but I think it would be cool if a bunch of fellow bloggers got together to form a carbonrally team. Comment/email me if you're interested! It even shows you how much carbon you have reduced (assuming you do the challenges correctly).

4. Get a reusable water bottle- Invest in a water purifier to purify your tap water and use an aluminum water bottle. Buying plastic bottles creates more waste and is more expensive. Sigg has some awesome water bottles to choose from! If you cannot avoid the plastic water bottles, throw them in a recycling bin instead of the trash can after you're done.

5. Unplug electronics when you aren't using them- Is your phone off the charger? Is the charger still plugged into the wall? Unplug it, because it is still using energy. Same goes for your hair straightener, blow dryer, stereo, etc. Also, turn off and unplug your computer at night!

I hope you all will start (or continue) to make greener choices in your daily life! What ways to you help reduce your carbon footprint and help the environment? Would you like to help make a carbonrally team of bloggers? Let me know what you think!

Book review: L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad

I'd heard mixed review about Lauren Conrad's L.A. Candy. But I decided I would read it for myself to judge, basically because I like LC and I needed an easy beach read for the summer.

I won't give out details or spoil the book for those who want to read it, but I still think I have mixed feelings about the book, even after I read it. I kind of felt like I was just reading an episode (or, more like a couple of episodes) of The Hills.

I think my english teacher spoiled me, I'm used to deep-thought provoking books with lots of symbolism and beautiful flowing sentences (which I used to hate but have grown to like). And I wasn't really expecting any of that in this book, but it was strange to read a book where everything was so straight forward for once.

It was cool though, to see how things worked behind the scenes and such of "reality" shows such as The Hills. But while I was reading I couldn't forget the fact that it was written by Lauren Conrad and I kept trying to figure out which characters in the book were most like the ones from the show.

It is a series, so there is a second book, Sweet Little Lies. I don't want to read the second book, but I do because I want to know what happens. This series is like the Twilight series for me; I don't like reading them but I can't stop because I want to know what happens.

So, it's definitely not on my list of recommended books to read this summer. Maybe a few years back it would have been, but not now. LC should stick to TV and fashion.

Have you read L.A. Candy? If so, are you going to read Sweet Little Lies? Let me know your thoughts on this book.

Be green while you blog!

On average, a website causes .02g (or 0,0008oz) or carbon dioxide for each visit. If your blog gets 15,ooo visits a month, that's about 8lbs a year. The numbers change depending on how many visitors you get.

But, you can make your blog carbon neutral by joining Germany's program "My Blog is Carbon Neutral", Make it Green will plant a tree for your blog in Plumas in order to neutralize your blog's carbon emissions! (information from the Make it Green website).

So, neutralize your blog and encourage your friends to be green while you blog too!

Inspired by: (500) Days of Summer

If you've ever seen 500 Days of Summer, you were probably noticing Summer's cute, summery outfits. She wore a lot of blues, florals, bows, and other girly vintage elements

Outfit #1

Product info: Dress- Odd Molly, Studded canvas flats- Forever21, Jazz feet flats- Modcloth, Tote- Marc Jacobs, Flower headband- Arden B.

Summer wore cute dresses and skirts throughout the movie, so I chose a light blue (also seen often) dress with two shoe options, both of which are a pretty light pink. I didn't see her wearing much jewelry (unless I wasn't paying close attention, which is possible), so for accessories I chose a flower headband and a Marc Jacobs Tote.

Outfit #2

Product info: Blouse- Dorothy Perkins, Shorts- Marc Jacobs, Tights- Asos, Oxford pumps- Forever21, Earrings- Miss Selfridge, Belt- Topshop, Nail polish- Chanel.

Summer wears a similar outfit in the movie, with a blue blouse and black shorts. To spice it up a little, I added a belt at the waist and pearl earrings with black bows. During the fall (or, if you live somewhere where it doesn't feel like an oven during the summer), add sheer black tights underneath the black shorts. Summer wears flats a lot, but I think the oxford pumps are cute too. (By the way, I'm an idiot and didn't realize that the Chanel nail polish in the picture was a base coat, not an actual color. But a pretty light pink would look very nice).

Outfit #3

Product info: Dress- Matches, Shoes- Tenover6, Bag- Marc Jacobs, Necklace- Asos, Headband- Juicy Couture.

For the final outfit, I chose a breezy pink dress and paired it with light blue lace up oxfords and a light blue Marc Jacobs bag. Sticking to summer's love for bows, I added a bow necklace with pearls, and a flowery headband just for fun.

Thanks for your ideas for this post :) I don't know why I chose oxfords for like, every outfit, but I think they look very cute and summery.

What do you think? What would you like to see an "inspired by" post of? Let me know!

Inspire me, lovelies

Ok, sooo I really want to do another "inspired by" post. The last one I did was inspired by Leigh Anne from The Blind Side.

The thing is, I need a little inspiration for my "inspired by" posts. I can't seem to think of anything creative to be inspired by right now, probably because I've been up since forever and I have to get up for work tomorrow, so my brain is kinda half here.

Basically, let me know what you would like to see. Could be anything really, it doesn't have to be a specific person.

Merci, et bonne nuit!

I would just like to say...

I would just like to say that some people really really disappoint me. I used to be friends with this girl, but I realized that I kept getting in trouble whenever I hung out with her, so I stopped. I don't really like some of the stuff she does, but I try not to judge her for it, because she is a good person once you get past all that (I won't give out details, but let's say she is just a tad on the trashy side).

Anyway, I respect her for the most part, she does what she does and doesn't care what people think about her, whatever I can't change that about her. I had gotten used to things she does and after a while they stopped surprising me. But today I found out something she did, and I literally almost cried because it was so bad. And illegal in SO many ways. And just morally wrong, and I honestly don't understand how she could let herself do something like it and act like nothing is wrong. (sorry about the lack of details here, I don't really want to expose her life on my blog).

I'm not saying that I don't do stuff people don't approve of (because trust me, I for sure have), but I learned from my (very bad) mistakes and if the bad things hadn't happend, I wouldn't be where I am now, because I would have just kept doing bad things because there had been no consequences.

Sorry I don't really know what the point of this post is, just basically me ranting and venting. I don't want to talk to my mom about it because she will flip. My advice: learn from your mistakes and stay classy, even if it is not the easiest thing to do at the time. Reminds me of one of Glozell's videos, about the heater. Click here to watch it.

On a lighter note, FIFA World Cup is on! Soccer and hot guys-of course I'm watching it!

Christiano Ronaldo

Yoann Gourcuff

Do you have anybody who has disappointed you lately? Anything you want to rant about? Go ahead, I feel a lot better now. Though still shocked and disappointed. But hey, can't change somebody who doesn't want to be changed.

New iPhone...anybody else still using a blackberry?

I just got my blackberry, after my best friend's boyfriend so rudely broke mine in half (accidentally). I feel like I'm one of the last few that doesn't have an iPhone, or that still uses a blackberry.

I like my blackberry though. I have an iPod touch and I had a touchscreen phone for over a year, and I was actually kind of glad when that little fucker broke it. Between the touchscreen phone, the iPod touch, and the touch screen camera (that I don't have just yet but will!), I missed pressing buttons.

The new iPhone does look pretty awesome though. If I was presented with a free iPhone, I would definitely not decline. But I'm quite happy with my little blackberry with a pink back. And it has buttons :)

Re-Decorating: My current room

As I mentioned here, I am re-decorating my room. I have two trouble corners, where I need something to put there. I also have pretty blank walls that are just dying to have awesome art hung on them. As I promised, here are pictures of my room as it is now. Suggestions from you all are greatly appreciated. I need major help!

^trouble corner #1

^trouble corner #2.

I'm not sure what to put in these corners, like I said in the other article I was thinking maybe a small couch or chair for trouble corner #1. Not too sure about trouble corner #2. And, as mentioned here, I am on the search for cool things to hang on my walls, so if you have any websites or stores that have potential for awesome art, leave a comment!

So basically I am asking for suggestions here. I'm in an interior design rut. Blah.
